Today, I came across this website that will make your work days go by a little faster. You now have the power to choose from different size frames, colors, chains, handlebars, bar pads, etc. and design your own bike from scratch. I think I might have spent about 20 minutes on it before I realized I was at work and not at home on my own computer. It became so real, but at the same time fantasy picking different color options, having one bright pink wheel with a blue tire and the other wheel being orange with a green tire. You have the ability to combine your own spice of taste on paper in front of you by just clicking your mouse. Its fun, cool, and really life like, try it out and let me know what you think.
So the next time the office is becoming a bit frustrating, click on this link, and take a little break. But right before you come back to reality make sure to bookmark the link.

Its wasn’t too long ago that a group of Australian researches had discovered that by drinking
a massive amount of coffee combined with a high carb meal regimen, would help one will recover a little faster. What happens is that after draining your bodies energy to an absolute nothing by sucking all of the glycogen level out of your system, it takes a proper amount of glucose and insulin levels in your blood to help you bounce back. To read more about the study itself click on this link from Bicycling.com and discover that even though this might be a quick solution, it might not be the more feasible for your bodies health.

So, for the past week I have been in Boston at the Greenbuild Convention at the new Boston Convention Center. This trip is for my working life and has been really cool expo seeing how so hundreds of companies are trying to help save our economy. Each day we have signed up for certain classes on different “Green” topics that can benefit us in learning to live in a more sustainable lifestyle. Well, my colleagues and I decided to take advantage of some of the courses that they offered and signed up for the “Bike Tour”. You got it, a bike tour.
After waiting for 30min in the front lobby of the Expo Center, we finally gathered ourselves and made it out into the brisk weather. We were giving Giro helmets and some metro style Schwinn Mountain/Cruiser bikes. The tour consisted of 1:30hrs of riding through the streets of Boston and across the Harbor, learning about the “green” buildings that Boston has developed.
To sum the whole tour up, it was great. We freezed our a$$ off, but at the same time got to enjoy a great day out in Boston on bikes. Don’t know about you, but I think that beats any day in the office. Below our pictures I took from my iPhone of the Harbor. Enjoy and Happy Riding.

Ever wonder what it would feel like playing the game of polo from the saddle of a bicycle, me too. Check
out this link from First Flight Bikes. Its a polo bike from the 70’s with a little “mojo” built into it. Powered by a single speed freewheel, this bad boy gives you the ability to swing the mallet due to the handlebars being shaved down in size.
I never even thought to myself that this would be an option, to replace the standard horse. But how can anyone doubt the personalities of the great Europeans. Its just amazes me that the development of the wheel can become such a stepping stone to society.

One item that is a must for any outdoor enthusiast must be a pair of Merino wool socks. I, myself have about 5 pairs and these suckers are great for when the weather is at its worst. Very soft to touch, these socks will keep
your feet warm in the winter and cool during those hot summer rides. Whats so unique about this type of fabric is that even when it gets wet, washed, or dried it always keeps its original “fluff” and shape. Going for about $15 a pair I hope Santa can put some of these in my stocking this year.

The other day I covered some basic tips to help keep those feet warm during the upcoming seasons most extreme weather conditions. But today i will explain some key tips one should take into consideration when challenging the rainy roads.
Lets start with our brakes, which ultimately can be our most important factor when riding a bike. If your brakes decide “Hey I’m tired, I’m going to just not work!” than yea your going to be in bad shape. Before you set out on your adventurous journey, take a minute to check your brakes. Wipe them down to make sure nothing is in the way from the pad hitting the wheel. If the weather is pretty wet it wouldn’t be a bad idea to stop every now and then and give those brakes a good rub with a towel.
Secondly, take in consideration what its like when your driving in your car during a rain storm, yeah exactly what i was thinking “miserable”. The windshield is always junked up with water and blowing leaves that it can become very difficult for one to drive. Well take those wet rain drops and slippery leaves and throw them directly in your path on your riding course. Challenging this can become but with a proper light setup and eye wear you’ll be sure to dodge any disaster.
After being able to see the road and figure out which direction you want to go it would also be a good idea to dodge some puddles. Yea it’s great trying to splash the nearby people walking on the sidewalk as you cruise through town, but on the same note it wouldn’t seem to cool if you wiped out in front of those people. So keep your eyes open and play smart.
Another great tip to keep in mind is avoiding slippery surfaces. One should know which elements of the street give no friction upon contact and those are the ones you wanna stay away from, because if not your daily ride can turn into disaster. Try to avoid the painted lines that are in the road because these can become very slippery along with anything that is metal: railroad tracks and manholes.
Enjoy and Best of luck to you on your next rainy day!
