Best Cycling shorts for long rides…..!
January 28, 2009
This is a great question when it comes to those days where its time to tackle those long, curvy hills for about 2-3hrs of pure riding power. You need to look at some factors when deciding on this, which include padding, material, temperature, fit, and Brand.
Lycra a great brand making cycling shorts for sometime now, offering a great short or bib that fits like a beauty with a butt-pad. Another brand that has developed a cycling short with comfort and durability is Royal. They have a great line of Road Bike clothing ranging from socks to bibs, do a Google search and you’ll be impressed with their products. You can also go on Performance.com and see what they have to offer too.
Now if you’re a little more anal, like myself, and kind of are hesitant about ordering online because a picture doesn’t do much justice, then drive over to your local cycle shop, or even sports retailer, like Dicks. Both places will carry very similar products, which can give you a better idea on fitting, padding, and material as you can try on multiple styles. Usually what you’ll notice is that the padded shorts are for more comfortable than non-padded, but to each his own. As you go from a low price short to a higher one you will realize that the brands on the upper level of cycling shorts are a lot better in quality and fit, which might be a solution when investing in a $80 pair of shorts.
Here’s the tricky part. Like I said up above its all about personal fit and the way that short feels on your body when you’re in the saddle. Lycra bibs with very limited padding tend to fit and feel a lot better on longer rides, due to lack of bulkiness and crowdedness in the groin area…if you get the picture. You are going to be sitting for 2-3 hours maybe and after constant pedaling for that time many things can start to develop if restriction comes into play, so just plant that into the back of your head when deciding.

Eat Right and See Results
December 16, 2008
Its very important to know what your body is feeling and how it reacts in certain situations. The week leading into a big
race or competition can already be nerve racking, but with some simple and smart eating habits, you can ease those levels of anxiety and focus on the final outcome of your ride.
Each individual is his/her own person and by eating an all carb diet vs. a high fat diet, will only determine by each being to themselves. Bike Tour through East Boston
November 20, 2008
So, for the past week I have been in Boston at the Greenbuild Convention at the new Boston Convention Center. This trip is for my working life and has been really cool expo seeing how so hundreds of companies are trying to help save our economy. Each day we have signed up for certain classes on different “Green” topics that can benefit us in learning to live in a more sustainable lifestyle. Well, my colleagues and I decided to take advantage of some of the courses that they offered and signed up for the “Bike Tour”. You got it, a bike tour.
After waiting for 30min in the front lobby of the Expo Center, we finally gathered ourselves and made it out into the brisk weather. We were giving Giro helmets and some metro style Schwinn Mountain/Cruiser bikes. The tour consisted of 1:30hrs of riding through the streets of Boston and across the Harbor, learning about the “green” buildings that Boston has developed.
To sum the whole tour up, it was great. We freezed our a$$ off, but at the same time got to enjoy a great day out in Boston on bikes. Don’t know about you, but I think that beats any day in the office. Below our pictures I took from my iPhone of the Harbor. Enjoy and Happy Riding.
Milwaukee Messengers kicking it Old Skool…
November 17, 2008
Have a passion for staying true to your colors and always doing things the old school
way, well check out this video. In Milwaukee, a local company still uses the bicycle as its means of transportation do complete its daily tasks. Ever wonder how cool it would be to ride your bike all day and get paid for it, that’s what these fellas do and they have been for 10 years. Some broken bones and plenty of doctor bills, but at the end of the day its a “Job well done!”
It’s kinda cool being able to get from one place to another by a simple machine…

A New way to gain MPG in your daily commute
October 29, 2008
To a couple of people it was a goal to prove to one city that a simple road bike ride can shave some minutes off your daily commute. A group of about 30 cyclists known as “Crimanimal Mass” took their second road bike trip on the L.A freeway during one of the busiest times of the day, rush hour, about a month ago. After many heads were turned and horns were honked it wasn’t until the Santa Monica Daily Press released an interview with Morgan Strauss, one of the group’s organizers, stating “We just wanted to raise questions about the transportation infrastructure. In a city ruled by cars, why is it that you can get places faster on bike?” as to why this demonstration took place.
It was a test of ambition and integrity that showed with a little determination that one can prove the simplest deed. L.A one of the biggest cities in the country has become so condensed with its reputation that the people who actually run its transportation routes have some glitches in the system. A simple structure as a road bike can easily get a single individual from point A to point B without causing one to stress.
