Gary Fisher to Debut Road Bikes in 2009?
November 6, 2008
Yes my friends, you have read correctly, one of the top mountain bike manufacturer’s will be joining the Road Bike Industry with a very limited line of ‘09 bikes to offer. In an event called “Backstage”, where a gathering of top manufacture ”shop guys” meet to educate themselves on the upcoming products for 2009, it was discovered that Gary Fisher will be releasing their first line of Road Bikes. A company that is known for its dominant mountain bike frame is going to be competing with some major top dawgs like Cannondale, Bianchi, and even Trek.
The new line that will debut in ‘09 seems to include a good amount of Road Bikes, a fixed/SS gear model, and a cross model for 2009. The rumor has it that even though Gary Fisher will be introducing road bikes in the upcoming year, its line is very limited at the time but moves have been made and underway for the upcoming 2010 and 2011 models. Models that may include new OCLV offerings.
Standard Road
- ARC Pro, ARC Super, and the AR Super
Women’s Road
- ARC Pro GS andARC Super GS
Cyclocross
- Presidio
Singlespeed/track
- Triton
Reviews have already been flying across the internet and real “gear heads” seem to already have their minds made up about this new line. Taken from “RoadBikeReview.com”, one reader writes “Nobody is going to buy Gary Fisher road bikes. Even if their bikes are good: they are known as such a mountain bike company, like Kona, that they will have trouble crossing over. Plus, Gary Fisher isn’t even that great in the mountain arena: if it weren’t for 29ers reviving the brand, they would be practically invisible right now.”
